The 2.0 Series
You may have noticed a few episodes that have the 2.0 moniker on them and wondered why. when i first started doing this i had no clue what i was doing (some say that is still the case). Over time I began to standardize the format of each episode to create a more consistent look. The first episode where I settled on the current format is "Zeds". I've slowly been going back and "Lucasing" the episodes before that so they have the current formatting. Take a look at the pictures below to see the difference. And that's the info on the 2.0 series.

The beginnings of Coffee On The Left were in the chatroom on the DHPD forums website. As you probably know, most of the characters seen are taken from the DHPD. But did you know that COTL is also published on their forums. Almost everything you see here is taken directly from there at usually a 2 or 3 day lag behind. Plus many of the earlier episodes are in their original forms. Not only that there is the occasional item that is posted there that never makes the transition to this site. So if you want the full COTL experience check out the DHPD forums. You will also get the opportunity to meet and get to know some of the real life people these characters are based on. How cool is that?
The Making of a Zombie

Ever wonder where all the zombies come from. This is a walk through of one zombie figures seen in the series. This is the base figure that i modified. It is a T-700 from the Terminator Salvation toy line. The endo-skeleton was a perfect base figure to work off of.

I started by taking some green stuff putty and spread it out over the figure to create the deteriorated and rotted flesh look I was going for. I wanted the skeleton to show through in areas so i didn't go overboard.
![Picture](/uploads/6/3/7/2/6372693/281047642.jpg)
With the flesh build up completed it is time to paint. I started with a base coat of red as I knew i would be building up the layers of paint and it was easier to get in the crevices now.

The next step was to drybrush a layer of beige over the figure. The main goal was to bring out the details of the skeleton and give them their initial coloring.

Now time to add some color to the fleshy areas. I went with just a basic skin tone, nothing fancy.
![Picture](/uploads/6/3/7/2/6372693/322324773.jpg)
Almost there, after all the base colors have been painted I went back over the figure with a wash to dull us the colors and add some depth to the figure.

And the finished piece. I went back over the wash with the final colors. An eggshell was used for the bone areas while an olive gray was used for the flesh areas. Unlike the rest of the zombie figures used this one has a bit more character and a more unique look.
Name?

Ever wonder where the name Coffee On The Left came from? You aren't alone. A lot of time was spent thinking about the title for this series and quite a few names were suggested and debated. I was looking for something that had a tie in with the group the comic is based on, the DHPD. After churning out a few ideas that weren't what I was looking for I looked to see what motto's or catch phrases that were popular with the group. One stuck out immediately to me, "Coffee on the left, donuts on the right". That phrase is commonly said to new members of the group and visitors as a welcome to the DHPD family. From there it was shortening it down and there you have it, a nod of the hat to the group that helped create the inspiration for what you see here. So what were some of the other names that were debated? Here is a few, Servants of Prophecy, Cracked Darkness, The Laughing Stone, and Tale in the Eyes.
